My passion is teaching students to read and spell in a fun and multi-sensory way.
Previously, I worked at a local school for students with language-based disabilities, predominantly dyslexia.
As a dyslexia specialist, I use the Orton-Gillingham Approach to provide explicit, diagnostic, and individualized instruction for students.
Because each lesson is planned specifically for your child, students show great success and growth in their reading and spelling.

I love helping kids grow as readers! I have been a primary teacher for thirteen years and find great joy in teaching kids to become confident learners. Over the last few years, I have been on a learning journey with my own two kids who are dyslexic. This led me to the Orton-Gillingham Approach, and I started tutoring my kids, plus other young elementary students. The fun, multi-sensory, and explicit approach has greatly helped my kids to become stronger readers and find a love for reading. I’m so excited to be tutoring one-on-one with Rose City Reading and helping your child grow as a confident reader.

I started my career as a veterinarian with an emphasis on behavior and learning. When I discovered that two of my children had dyslexia, my focus shifted to helping students with this learning difference. In order to successfully help students, I became certified by the Orton Gillingham Academy at the associate level. I have worked with students of all ages and I love to plan specific, explicit, multi-sensory lessons for students to improve their reading and spelling and grow their confidence.

The need for solid support and direct intervention for students can be complex, but very relevant for many children today, as I have witnessed this in a classroom setting my whole career. I am excited to be moving further into understanding how to coach students with practical tools to help them develop the skills they need to not only read and write, but to love to do so! In teaching and working with children with a wide variety of needs, I've learned how to connect with kids and if possible, laugh together. I am eager to apply these practices to one-on-one tutoring, meeting individual needs in the moment and long term.
